HOW IT TO BE COLORED ME
HOW IT TO BE COLORED ME
Well I am Mexican-American, but my mother also told me that i have a percentage of me that's Irish. I mean even though it may be a very little percentage, I still embrace it and try to find out about it. I'm more intreasted in that part of my heritage then my Mexican part. To me, it makes me more unique then anyone else and also adds the "color" to me.
I don't feel that I'm differnt that anyone else around me when it comes to the aspect of the color of our skin. I live in East La, where the general population is Mexican-American, and their skin color just so happens to be brown, like everyone else around them. So even though we all might look alike physically, everyone has their own version of what it is to be colored.

It is interesting how as much as we value belonging somewhere, we also value that which makes us unique.
I wonder, though, about your statement that everyone in ELA looks alike, physically. I don't see that.
Its really cool that you have Irish in you and even if its a small percentage it sure makes you unique.

It's so cool to be Irish too because many of us are just Mexicans and others Mexican Americans. I bet it feels cool. :)
