"How It Feels To Be Colored Me" Vanessa Zepeda

I am proud to say that I am Mexican-American. I don't feel any different than anyone else around me in East L.A. when it comes to the color of my skin because practically everyone here is Hispanic/Latino in one way or another. I love my culture and I love the color of my skin and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Negative comments from ignorant people have never made me doubt once that where i come from and what my roots are, are any less than anyone elses. I am human just like every other race there is. The color of my skin is brown, and the color of my eyes and hair are dark brown and I was born and raised in East L.A., so people will take me for who i am or wont take me at all.
