Thank you

This is a bit overdue, but I figured with the assignment due many of you would actually be checking the blog.

I wanted to say thank you to all my students for your kindness and support you showed, and continue to show, upon my return from my mother's funeral. I know it was disruptive to have me gone for nine days and then, upon being back, to tolerate my disorganized state of mind (because I know what eager beavers you are to read and write!). The letters you gave me continue to offer comfort and guidance as I adjust to this life transition. Moreover, you have done much to keep me laughing and make coming to work uplifting rather than draining the little energy I have.

As you continue to grow and mature, I hope you hold onto this compassion. While degrees and titles are respectable achievements I hope you strive for and meet, it is your sense humanity that will bring depth and significance to whatever else you do. This is something you all have shown you already possess and is something that is not taught in universities.
